12 Wonderful Years!

Sam and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary on December 14th! It is so hard to believe that it has already been 12 years together. Time really goes by fast! In celebration of our special day, we chose to go down to San Antonio, Texas for a nice relaxing weekend. It was wonderful! We arrived in San Antonio early Saturday afternoon and went through the San Antonio Temple together. A few years back we had gone through it for its open house, before its dedication.

I hardly remembered it. I remembered it being very small, but I forgot how beautiful it was. Good things can really come in small packages! Sam and I barely made it into our session. We did not realize that you had to have an appointment to do a session there. We are so use to, and pretty spoiled, to have a temple as large as the Dallas Temple right in our own town. There was only one standby ticket available, but some really nice woman, whom I wish I could have seen and said thank you to, gave up her ticket so both Sam and I were able to go through. It was a spectacular way to begin our trip. We now have both decided to make that an anniversary tradition.
After the temple, we did a little last minute Christmas shopping, then we checked in at our hotel. Sam and I really enjoy staying in Bed & Breakfast Homes just because they are so much more low key and quieter. This time we stayed in the Beauregard House. It was located in the King William district, which is where several old preserved homes from the 1800's are located. We really enjoyed it. The staff and their hospitality were great. The only drawback for Sam was that we could not light a fire in our fireplace. I could understand that the hotel didn't want some crazy nut catching this lovely 1800 home on fire and burning it to the ground. Sam had chosen our room because of the fireplace. Oh well. We still enjoyed it.
After we had unloaded our suitcases, we walked down to the Riverwalk and spent the rest of the day/evening there. It was beautifully decorated with candles and lights. Sam and I both really love the Riverwalk. Unfortunately, we left the camera at the hotel, so we have no pictures to show off.
On Sunday, we spent the day at Sea World. We still had our season passes from the summer. Sam and I both thought it was okay, but we were glad we did not pay to get in.
We would have been really disappointed. Sea World doen not have much to offer its guests for the holidays. The two most exciting things were the Polar Express 4D movie, where it "snowed" in the theater at the end of the show, and Santa being in the coral reef tank. It was very cool to see.
Overall, we had a fantastic trip!
