Nate Starts Basketball

The time finally arrived for Nate to start basketball. He has been pestering us for months now about when it would begin, and it was a great relief to say, "NOW!" Today was his first game and I have to admit, his team is pretty impressive. Nate even scored a goal not too long into the first half. We were quite proud of him. The league is great. It is an Upward program through Sachse First United Methodist Church, so it is Christian based. The kids have a scripture to study each week, and say prayers at every game. It is a really nice change to the usual city leagues. My Den Assistant told us about it, and we are very pleased! We can't wait to see how the season goes, and the growth Nate will get from it! He really takes it very seriously, on the good sportsman side and on the spiritual side.

Our Cousins Come To Visit 01-02-09

Every four years, our cousins, the Derrick's, come through Dallas on their way home from christmas in Minnesota. We were so excited to see them because our kids and their kids had such a great time together the last time we saw them. This year was no exception. Even with an extra kid from us and an extra kid added to the crew from them, they had a great time. We went to McDonalds together, player at our house, and then had pizza at Sam's parents house in the evening. We wish it could have been a longer stay, but we are hoping to be able to see them on our way to California in April when we go to visit my brother's family.
